The science that answers why already works, and the largest companies in the world already win with it. It just does not scale, so it gets spent on a handful of decisions a year. We think that is the wrong number.

Our mission

Causal for every decision, not a handful a year.

Causal inference is not experimental. The biggest companies in the world already use it on their highest-stakes questions, and it works — it tells them which lever actually moves the outcome, not just which numbers happen to move together.

Two things stop it going any further. The algorithms do not scale — the search space explodes with every variable you add, so a model that covers a real business runs for hours or never converges at all. And getting it right takes rare expertise: a specialist configuring each question, one question at a time.

So causal gets rationed. A handful of projects a year, scoped to the decisions big enough to justify a team of PhDs. Every other decision — most of them, and most of the money — gets made on correlation, or on instinct.

We build the infrastructure that removes both constraints, so causal stops being a project and becomes the default. Because once you can see what actually causes an outcome, nothing else is worth deciding on.

RootCause.ai is a causal inference and simulation platform for business and operational decisions. It is not an IT incident-response or observability tool. The company operates as RootCause Technologies, Inc. in the United States, formerly Perceptura, Inc.

Dr. Ayman Elhalwagy

Co-Founder & CEO

Ayman is the visionary behind RootCause.ai, driven by a passion to solve enterprise decision complexity. His PhD research in Computer Engineering, deployed by NASA and in 8-figure mining portfolios, pioneered foundational techniques in machine condition monitoring and inspired his work on RootCause.ai's autonomous causal discovery system.

Previously, he founded and scaled Numvio, an AI R&D consultancy, delivering multi-million ROI impact for enterprises and on UK government funded projects. Ayman's expertise lies at the intersection of deep AI research and practical enterprise application.

Dr. Jonas Skackauskas

Co-Founder & CTO

Jonas leads RootCause.ai's technological architecture, bringing deep expertise in AI, combinatorial optimization, and scalable system design. His PhD in Artificial Intelligence alongside Ayman laid further groundwork for RootCause.ai's core engine.

As the former CTO of Numvio, he successfully architected and delivered AI-driven enterprise systems. His prior experience as a Staff Engineer at Compare the Market and research with Intel on chip fabrication floor optimization underpins his ability to build robust, enterprise-grade platforms.

Jake Friedenberg

Co-Founder & COO

Jake is a seasoned Go-To-Market leader with a proven track record of scaling early-stage deep-tech startups. As employee #3 at Tonic.ai, he built the sales organization from the ground up, spearheading its growth through Series B and establishing it as a leader in synthetic data.

His expertise spans GTM strategy, enterprise sales, and business operations, with multiple successful exits at companies like npm (acq. by GitHub) and whiteCryption (acq. by Zimperium). Jake ensures RootCause.ai's innovations reach and transform global enterprises.
